I have always been a fan of Nvidia, but gtx280 series when was first introduced had bump gate problem and now the bad driver issue. I will not buy another card right when it first comes out. I willl probably wait for a refresh on the GF100 like june july. ATI really has an impressive and reliable line up this year.

I was looking at doing about the same thing as you oneway but doubt I will tri sli any vid cards etc so was looking at a different motherboard than the one you listed. The one I am looking at is fairly new, just curious if you think it is decent board? THis is the one i am leaning towards. Motherboard

My Dualcore was a huge bottle neck in the game. AMD 5000+ 2.5Ghhz or abouts 6 gigs of DDR2 2x 8800gts 640mb DDR2 cards
It was most apparent in the beta, where it was like playing in jello and got nearly impossible to hit anything in a full server. This was greatly improved with the final release,, though the game still has some inherant swimminess to it with the dual core. This is most detectable when knifing. I had to plan ahead to knife someone.. i hit the knife button when they were 3-4' away to get the kill.
With my new mobo there are 4 PCI-E slots, where 1 and 3 are primary 16x and 2x4 are secondary and are regulated by what other cards that are installed. When cards are in 1 or 3,,, slots 2 and 4 become 1x. When all 4 slots are used each one becomes 8x. Anyway, my point is the SLI cable will not reach from slot 1 to slot 3 and when i set my cards into 1 and 2,, the 2nd card does not register for SLI compatiblity since one card is set o 16x and the other to 1x.
I did find a longer cable, i hope works, online for $10 from ASUS, but until then I am running on one 8800 GTS 640mb card instead of 2x SLI.
So being interested in how the game would perform under the new build- AMD Phenom II 965 - 3.4Ghz quad 4 gigs ddr3 7-7-7-20 (I will go to 8 at some point) 1x 8800gts 640Mb DDR2 (I will replace this soon)
The swimminess lag is gone, i change everything from low to medium and played last night. The 1st 2 people I ran into i knifed. The game is responsive and smooth running.. it is almost a different game.. I now have moved settings to high and the game runs great, but i can see some rough edges on the far shadows, but everything up close is great.
So, I am getting much greater performace on less video memory, less cpu memory, but with a quadcore. I will run fraps and get some FPS info to go with this, but the game seems unlocked by the quad core and is more playable than before.

Really were you forcing dx9 one?
I can get 30 fps and run smooth on my laptop.
P8700 2.53ghz duelcore - I usually OC it to 2.8ghz with Asus Turbo Boost 4 gigs of ddr2 9800m GS
I have my settings at medium and sit around 70% of my cpu right now. I can play at high and the very odd time I have experienced what you mentioned (only online this happens) so I choose to set it to medium. The render ahead limit set to 1 really helped in beta so I set it up again in the retail.

So, the new card added about 30-40 fps..I did notice though, that my load time (into a map), almost doubled..not too happy about that.
When I installed the ATI CCC, it took over my audio..had to do a bunch of un/reinstalls of drivers, to finally get sound back
Also, noticed the the WIndows Exp Index dropped a bunch, with the new card. With the GTX260, I was at 7.3 for both graphic tests..now, I am at 6.0

(wei is hardly good benchmark) load times go down cause your loading ultra textures and higher levels of data. (better graphics = longer loading times) i am plenty pissed you didnt call me about the sound issues. I have countless hours going through the same problem. how does dx11 ultra textures and soft shadows look , are you impressed?

QUOTE and btw,, when the fuck can we expect to see you and your L33t !nf@ntry skillz pwning noobs? Not so elite anymore...getting old I guess. But my computer is old too...i play lil CSS and TF2 and it feels like work trying to keep up with people. I really need to update my system. Still running an amd 3800 with a 9800gt card. I really need to clean sweep my computer too...going to upgrade then maybe the bug will bite me better, but hard to justify big expense when I don't play as much anymore. I still need to do my taxes so I will probably upgrade here shortly. I already have the case and XCLIO STABLEPOWER 850 WATT POWER SUPPLY i bought last year, just need to finish up the upgrading. My Case
