Well just got my newegg box.

Windows7 premium

Musky 2gig x2 1066

Bc2

I put the memory in first under Xp3 to change voltage to memory to specs 2.0-2.1(used the 2.1) but runinig it at 1400(stock is 1066) this gives me 3.12 hertz, Might just be having more memory but it is WAY faster though under 32bit XP i only show 2.75gig memory. so fare so good.


Instal of W7p, wow was that easy, i mean freeking easy as it gets and fast, over wrote my two raptors in Rad but kept the partion alive so i did not even have to instal the Evga drivers to redo rad,,,very cool. Bada Bing W7p running all 4gis of memory showing.

Now do i push the memory to 1600 and go for 3.4-6 on this 2.4 quad? Man its real hard not to try but i better not, at least for now.

Getting all my shit back on it now, links drivers TS, you all know the BS you forget to back up that you need to find.

Ok few issues with BC2 most i figured out, but the browzer seems to find FEW servers and no pings? No dueces show up? Is this just because it dont work yet?

Other issues have to get TS to see if it works for me last few tries no mic, but i have the mic working in all other programs under W7, will see if changes i made today helps.


Overclocking, I set a personal record today, throwing caution to the wind, I set my 1066FB to 1600 Vcor is 1.45(before my ram would never post at this high) but seems this Musky(running stock voltage of 2.1) is a lot better tham the Oz i had. This gives my Q6600 2.4 now 3.6. on air, at idle iam sitting at 42cel(just to point out at idle at stock its 34) wow that is amazing considering this old light bulb is going two years of Ocing it to death. If you hear of a mushroom cloud over Havasu city you know Doc Brown blew his flux capicitor into the nest deminsion. I really l;ike this Evga MB 780I deluxe, very easy to OC nothing to date has wore out like the Nb fan.

On a nother note seems i lost my Bf2 cd key:( crap So unless i get a new one today perhaps Wallworld still has one in garbage bin.

Played some of the single player, Dx9 cards leave alot on the table. Man now i got the bug and want a new ati card with Dx11, shit......

Doc, you have the same cpu I have, the Q6600. I was thinking of OCing it a little to see if I can get some extra fps. Not a lot, maybe to 2.8-3.0. I'm not really in the mood to mess with a new fan and prefer stability more than a little extra performance. But I wouldn't mind a few extra fps if possible.

I have OC'd a bit back in the day, but it's been a while since I've mucked with it. What settings would you recommend to get a stable 2.83-3.0 with a stock fan?

I have one of those giant round zalmans. I use the frounr side Bus in bios. Now yours will very perhaps, but from stock you will see two timings one the stock full the one below is half the first number, so for kicks lets say. the half is600 and the uper is 1200 ratio is allways 1/2 if change it to 700 and 1400 the Herts go up on cpu go in small amounts though to you know what the higest than i would back off since you really dont want it maxed. I have went to 800-1600 for 3.6 seems to be stable enough( i am have issue with th sound in Bc2 seems to cause crashes at times) but the on board sound on these boards is terrible. I was using a very old Creative card but can not find a driver in 64bit, so looks like i need a new one that is supported. I have backed down my timing now to 750-1500 this gives me a 3.36 herts cpu. I noticed at 3.6 the ga,e runs allot better than at 3.12(700-1400) now before with my OZ memrory i could never post at 800-1600. Since the chips mutiplier is locked the easy way to OC is the Fb, the draw back is memory can get hot so you must air cool it. i used two old case fans glued(crazy glue) in a stack and now have upgrade from rubber bands to quike ties(i tie the stack to my videocards power plug works supper) it cost nothing. also you notice that the south bridge is cooled by heat pipes to the north, since my video card is right over that south i put a fan pointed at it as well.

note at 3.6(800-1600) (using enhanced Musky 1066 ram) with the zallman cooler in Bc2 i seen a high of 49cel and 42 cell just poking about the net(light load) i love the way at 3.6 the game seems to be more like butter than at 3.12( but my vdeo card is the bottle neck now) Dx9 and 8800gts 512 is putting the load i think on the CPU. But i plan to get a ati card that is Dx11 soon. see then if i need to oc alot or less.

I have yet to play online, seems somehow i did not install PB? so now i need to reinstall it try to get that fixed so i can play again.

Poking around W7 i found a folder that has my complet Wxp-3 ? yes i mean the whole thing all 25 gigs! I ther is my still working Bf2 not sure if it will work on line but seems like it does. One thing about W7 fire wall is a pain games that run may have a pop up from windows wanting you to say ya or na, perhaps this is kings issue since in game you wont see this and it will block the game until you say yes.

7 upgrades but keeps the old system files and old programs. You can delete the file and I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect your Registry.

My windows firewall is turned off.

I've chased my problem to SPI (system packet inspection?) in the Cisco IOS Firewall of the college and TCP/IP time out in the college router.

it works, just can never find our server, all but. no way to type ip. had favorites there gone .The ranked systems is getting more to with the game than balance of the war. Not sure i like it, to tell you the truth, buggy, lack of browser that works. Armor feels like a second thought "hey lets poop a few armor out so we get more people to buy this". The cars/tanks(never see a chooper) feels like Delta force. The game styly is going to break down to camp and snipe i think.. well unless this grows on me ...

Ok I am not a pilot but flew a chopper, what a pile, again it feels like a Delta Forcs game. The quads feal. they turn like a cheep R/C car its turn left/right straight nothing in the middle, very twitchy. Tanks feel very slow, maybe there is a speed upgrade, turret is so slow you will never catch an infantry sneeking up from the rear unless you run them over. Not sure now if i will get a video card, seems this one will do for now. If i grow to like this in the end then perhaps a video card, I hope BF3 is not as fucked up as this. EA has done it agian, more beta game box games possing as a pc game. I do not see this going to be "The game" with out a major over haul, infantry teams may love it, but it would seem there are better now.

Thinking the turret is so slow my mouse pad that is 17x20 is not enough to even get 45* turret spinn without lifting the mouse up several times, might be better to have it on the key board?

The way it plays you will see alot of snipers in future, the game is made for the camping sniper, even the stock weapon is 10times that of the other kits, the lose of cross hairs without scope could be an easy fix, just put a dot on the screen or tape red thread into cross hairs on your screen now you could run and gun and shoot it from the hip. just my 2bucks(was 2cents) worth.
