Well after 6 weeks with my new Asus board, it crapped out on me and I'm having to RMA. I don't want to and cant' wait on the RMA, so I'm gonna get a different board.

So I need some suggestions for a new board.

Old board:

I have a the following
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 Processor
Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 4096MB
2 x EVGA GeForce 9500 GT Video Card - 1GB DDR2, PCI Express 2.0, SLI

Thanks for the suggestions.

its kind of a crap shoot for me when i get a new system. i read the reviews(for what they are worth, try to read reviews at tech sites). But in the end any board maker can send a sqib. Top end ones are just to much money and way to much crap, like 3 video cards slots, and the list just grows. I have bought mostly asus though my PC is a Evga MB seems ok, its been running Oced now for years on air 2.4 quad at 3.2, tough i did have to add more fans right on top of the memory gets freaking hot at that Oc as does the south bridge so the extra air seems to have kept in in check

I had problems with my old Asus board and decided to give Gigabyte a try. I have never looked back - I love the new GB board. It's very easy to overclock and is very stable. I think mine is GA-EP45-UD3P.

That's funny I had the exact same experience. After multiple headaches with Asus and MSI, I bought a well reviewed Gigabyte board and have never been happier. My current system has easily been the most stable and high performing system I have ever had. I am actually a little worried that when I upgrade it won't be as solid as this one has been.

I have the same board and have been having problems with a reboot loop,,,I also built my dad a PC using this same board, because it was so stable and relentless with anything i threw at it,,, he also has problems with it looping at reboot with no post,, and his computer is currently sitting in my living room it will not boot at all now,,, with my reboot problems a simple flip of the PSU switch to drain the Capacitors seem to fix it,,,with his it is to no avail. i have been doing some research and it seems that this is a fairly common problem with these boards,,some do it some dont,, i am willing to put up with my problems do to the fact that once it is running it is a smokin ass board. (runs my Q6600 at 3.2 all day everyday,, with no Voltage boost) so take it what its worth,,,seems like every board every manufacture has there problems and glory.

This is the board i went with.

http://www.xfxforce.com/en-gb/products/mot...eries/750i.aspx

I've had problems with the board detecting my usb keyboard during the boot up process. Luckily it fired right up with my exiting win 7 install.
No problems other than the keyboard thing. I want to reinstall windows 7 but can't do it till i get a keyboard that works.

I'm currently using a razor tarantula keyboard.

Do you have more than 1 hard rive or DVD drive? If so, try unplugging all the HD's, then plug in the the HD that has your operating system on it. Boot into BIOS and go over your Masters and Slaves with a fine-toothed comb. Make absolutely sure that you have the correct boot order. Seems like a simple thing, but one that I have overlooked before. Couldn't hurt.

the tarantula....sheer cream in your pants accuracy..... I have tried all others but cant seem to find better keys anywhere
Many people laugh at me for the$ 100 tag but considering the best in any class "feel" it is justified.
Unfortunatly they wear out I am on my second one in 2 years. When they go less than perfect I bring to my office and a temp U use give me a funny ass look when i say here is your keyboard.....smile.gif

I totally agree with it Asus is not providing a perfect motherborad. They are like now running their business, though I am using Asus right now. I prefer Gigabyte not even Intel I have a bad experience with both the companies Asus as well as Intel.

Perfection is hard to find, lemons easy. I do tink no matter what Company you try you could end up with a lemon. I have a Evga 780I runs well now for a few years and i have been ocing it 50% all of those days 2,4@ 3.48-3.6(depends on what game Bc2 the lower setting since this game is demanding on the PC.

Having just built a ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 based Pc(not for me). The board seems very good, runs very cool, the only bad to date is the sata ports 1-6 are angled away from the MB and are rather hard to get at. Can be done just a bit of a pain. But that board is 300$ kind of pricy. The good i like the 3/6 memory slots, very expandible. One thing during the build as well even the DvD is sata. so on these new boards you may not be able to use your older one.

I think over all, all boards today have a greater chance of grimmlins. Very complex compared to stuff years ago. Kind of like new cars, the more complex the better chance of a system failur.
